How Big Is a Papillon Supposed to Be at 11 Weeks?

I heard many different "breed standard" sizes for papillons, some ranging from 3-7 or 4-9 or whatever. I’m trying to figure out where my papillon would lie after he stops growing. He’s currently 11 weeks and maybe 2 lbs? or 1.5lbs? I’m not sure, I haven’t weighed him yet but that’s what he is.

Actually, 2 pounds at 11 weeks is about normal. I show and breed papillons and currently have a litter that is 11 weeks old. They range somewhere in the 2 lbs 5 oz – 3 lbs 1 oz. I expect this litter to all be normal sized. 1.5 pounds at 11 weeks is actually small and the dog MIGHT make it to 5 pounds, but doubtful. (Of course this all depends on whether or not the dogs have been well fed and cared for appropriately at their breeder’s home.)

There’s no possibly way you can really tell how much he will weigh when he stops growing. If he’s already around 2 lbs though, he might get on the hefty side.

Breed standard for papillons doesn’t state a weight, only a size.

Size (when full grown) should be under 11" to be within the breed standard, over 11" is a fault in the show-ring, over 12" is a disqualification in the show-ring.

My papillon was around 3-3.25 pounds at 12 weeks, though I don’t remember the exact weight. She’s full grown about 10 pounds, she’s a little on the tall side, 11.5".
Her sister was the same size at 12 weeks, but didn’t grow as big. I don’t know the exact height-weight; she’s a conformation dog, though, so under 11".

hi, i have lots of chihuahua, so the chart below is based on a chi. Papillons height at the top of the shoulder blade averages 8" to 12" This is the height range allowed in dog show competition (with over 11" as a fault, and over 12" as a disqualification), but smaller and larger individuals do occur infrequently. The Papillon Standard does not mention weight, but they should be height/weight proportional (typically weighing between 3 and 9 pounds).

Chart shows a chihuahua weight guide, which are very simular to papillon’s. Hope this helps, either way dont worry about the size/weight of your pup just enjoy him, they dont stay small for long. All the best Maria

Well I have a Papillon and I did very extensive research before purchasing her, I found a very reputable breeder and drove 2 1/2 hours to get her. She is a purebred, but she weighs around 15-16 lbs. In all my research I never found anything saying she would ever be this big. I was looking for a dog about the size of a chihuahua but didn’t exactly want a chihuahua. Most everywhere stated Papillons would weigh between 3-9 lbs. clearly this is not the case for mine and she is 3 times the size of a chihuahua, I would compare her closer to the size of a jack russell. She is not overweight and does not look fat. No one who sees her comments on her looking overweight so I would say as long your pup doesn’t look overweight, is active, and has a healthy diet, then I wouldn’t be too concerned about the actual weight number. If you feel he is getting a little overweight speak with your vet and they can set you up with some weight management dog food.

sorry if I wasn’t much help
